chayote & spinach & kicap

pronounced "chy-o-tay"; this is a native Mexican squash. has crisp flesh like water chestnut. just discovered by me la. so yummy! finally an alternative...otherwise i'll still be eating a rockmelon a day.



always on the menu is spinach too! favourite leafy vege. simmered in very little water (just enough to cover pan surface) with some garlic then add a little EVOO.

just suddenly felt like talking about food. and i have a really convenient market just downstairs.
food makes me happy!
